Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has declared that the state will present a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill, joining Uttarakhand and Gujarat. The Assam UCC will include rules to combat underage marriage and polygamy, but indigenous tribes would be excluded. Sarma intends to analyse Uttarakhand’s UCC bill and solicit public feedback before introducing Assam’s version.
